Pneumonia is a serious infection which causes inflammation of the lungs. The infection caused by microorganisms like virus, bacteria, parasites and fungus.
These organisms enters the body through eye, nose and mouth and attacks the lungs and air sacs. This results in the formation of pus in the air sacs and oxygen supply is cut. This disease spreads by inhaling the contaminated air from the infected person. Age, lung infection, low immunity, smoking, alcohol are some of the risk factors. Fever, chills, cough, shortness of breathe and chest pain are the general symptoms of pneumonia. Treatment involves antibiotics, complete rest, plenty of fluids and nutritional diet.
